Alaska - All The Dead Astronauts
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 6th October, 2003Brighton is known for being a happy and cheery place. Too cheery some might say. Maybe that’s because people only go to Brighton in the summer, when it’s nice and everyone’s got a reason to be sickeningly joyful. Enter Alaska; the musical representation of Brighton’s winter, the time of year when even happy people can reflect on reality. Alaska are beautifully melancholic but, as you might expect Brightonians to be, they’re very laidback back about it all. Calls to “see all the dead astronauts living on the moon” (All The Dead Astronauts) and lamentations on mortality (Even Steamtrains Die In The End) don’t seem as brooding and introverted as they may appear but more just brief clips of a greater conversation.
