A Man Called Adam - All My Favourite…
Posted by: Bob on Monday, 12th July, 2004A Man Called Adam make Ibiza chill out sounds that, if they didn’t augment the songs with gentle lapping synths, gospel style vocals and subtly enhanced beats, would simply be folk music with a Spanish slant; although they have been called everything from Balearic to downtempo to acid jazz. The combination works though and the album is an ideal backdrop to a hazy lazy summer night - should we be lucky enough to see them here, you’d be best advised to go abroad. All My Favourite… combines new and old, there are eight new tracks here that sit easily alongside the old favourites.
No matter how old the songs are, they are all fresh and beautifully constructed. The dream-like quality that each track possesses, and the washed out sounds are always engaging. It is easy to see how they have been around for over a decade, but harder to see why they are not massively well known (especially when you consider that Easter Song and Estelle are ranked two in the list of the most compiled chill out tracks on record).
