New York Dolls Will Continue
Posted by: Andy on Thursday, 12th August, 2004The New York Dolls have confirmed that they will fulfil all their live commitments, despite the recent death of bassist Arthur Kane. These date include the Reading and Leeds festivals at the end of this month.
The band reformed in Jun for Morrissey’s Meltdown festival to the joy of critics and fans alike. Kane died of leukaemia in July.
Frontman David Johansen told the New York Times, “We don’t have any long-term plans or anything. We’re honouring our commitments, and that’s as far as we have any idea about. We’ve never had any kind of Maoist five-year plan anyway, nor have I with anything I’ve done. Everything I’ve done I’ve just fallen into. Most bands are commercial enterprises. But I’m not in one of those bands.”
