Who they?

After signing to Household Name Records, they released their debut album in 2003 and were nominated for Indigo Flow album of the year.

And they sound like?

Oh gawd, what a horrible question. Slightly eccentric and quite schizophrenic. The official word is apparently that they are a post punk, indie, ska-core, violin/folk driven, experimental, left field, lo-fi punk rock band. Influences range from Gang Of Four to Fugazi, Rancid and all the way up to The Cardiacs. Fittingly this album was recorded in a converted shed at the family chainsaw repair business.

Chainsaws, eh? So it’s not those of fragile body and mind?

Don’t judge so fast! It may sound like a disaster but it’s actually far from it. The music may draw on a vast number of styles but that’s because this band don’t need to tie themselves to one thing; they write songs that fit their sound and it is a fine sound too. If you’re looking for background music then no, you probably won’t like it. But if you want something to actually listen to then you’re heading in the right direction with this.

Got much of a following, have they?

Yes, actually, several self-funded releases the DIY musicians’ resource Unlabel and live reputation that precedes them they have found plenty of underground fame.
