The Line-up Mariann (vocals/keyboards), Kjetil (guitar), JR (drums), Andy (keyboards) and Ziggy (bass)

The History Having formed in 2001, Surferosa spent a year perfecting their “synth-punk” sound in an old shipyard, before setting it loose on the Norwegian rock scene. Extensive touring and a series of EPs and the release of their debut album, Shanghai My Heart earlier this year secured their success in Norway, where they now find themselves regularly appearing on the covers of magazines and newspapers.

With their home country conquered the band set about convincing the rest of the world of their talents. The first UK release was the Neon Commando EP and was followed in early 2004 by Shanghai My Heart.

The Sound Imagine, if you will, a cross between The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and A-ha. Yes, something that wonderful really does exist!

Other Items Of Interest Kjetil claims that he met Sid Vicious’ ghost in a castle in Grünenwald in Germany. Sid apparently told him to quit his career as a punk guitarist and devote his time to something he referred to as “trashpop”. Prior to joining Surferosa, Mariann’s plan was to become an opera singer in Russia.
