Aereogramme - Seclusion
Posted by: Andy on Friday, 10th September, 2004This mini-album is the first new Aereogramme material to surface since the band’s move from Chemikal Underground to Undergroove. This change seems not to have harmed them any as we find them on top form and oozing creativity; as well as the 5 original tracks, there features a cover of The Flaming Lips’ Lightning Strikes The Postman and a short film made by the band in collaboration with upcoming Scottish director Steven Morrison.
Seclusion is filled with shades of light and dark, switching between the blisteringly heavy to the quietly melodic and all topped off with Craig B’s soft vocals. The band benefit greatly also from drummer Martin Scott’s training as a jazz percussionist, as he plays solidly but outside the normal rock mould throughout.
It seems now that Aereogramme are unstoppable. This mini-album will almost certainly match and exceed the praise its predecessors received, and not without good reason.
