The Alarm - Close
Posted by: Bob on Monday, 13th December, 2004After coming back to chart success (as The Poppy Fields) with 45RPM and then releasing their first studio album for over a decade (In The Poppyfields) The Alarm are releasing a third single from the album. The likeness to early U2 us so strong it cannot go without mention. Close has the earnest, and slightly warbling, cries that Bono likes so much as well as the wailing lead guitar.
That said, Close has an energy about it that comes close to that of 45RPM and the eighties stylings are back in vogue again. For those die-hard fans of Mike and the boys this will be a welcome addition to the collection.
