Head Finds God, Quits Korn
Posted by: Andy on Wednesday, 23rd February, 2005Guitarist and founding member of Korn, Brian “Head” Welch, has announced that he has quit Korn after a religious awakening.
Speaking to the KRAB-FM radio station in California, Welch said, “I had it in my heart to come here and explain to you. I’m good friends with Korn. I love those guys, and they love me, and they’re very happy for me.”
Speaking of the Korn’s music and its aggressive nature he continued, “Anger is a good thing, and if kids want to listen to Korn, good, but there’s happiness after the anger. I’m going to show it through my actions how much I love my fans.”
Fans who live near Welch may be pleased to know that he will be appearing at his local church this Sunday (27th Feb) to speak about this decision and answer questions.
A statement on Korn’s website reads: “Korn has parted ways with Brian Head Welch, who has chosen the Lord Jesus Christ as his saviour, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end. Korn respects Brian’s wishes and hopes he finds the happiness he is searching for. Jonathan, Fieldy, James and Daid are personally closer that ever, and are currently in the studio working on their 8th record.”
The new album is due for a September release, though there is no word as yet on who will be releasing it, as Korn parted ways with the Epic record label last year after completing their contractual commitments to them.
