God Speaks To 50 Cent Through Ex-Metal Guitarist
Posted by: Andy on Thursday, 31st March, 2005Since quitting Korn and devoting his life to God, Brian “Head” Welch has been busy. Work has already begun on a solo album, which will see all its profits go into Christian activities (like building a skatepark), he’s been to Israel to be baptised and he’s set about making 50 Cent change his ways.
Head warned 50 Cent that he had written a song about him and would release it if the rapper didn’t respond to a letter he’d sent him, he would release it to the world. 50, like most people, probably just wondered what could be in a song that would be so bad. Well, now he, and everyone else, can find out because Welch has made the track, entitled A Cheap Name, available on his website (www.headtochrist.com).
The song is a two minute down tempo electronica tune, in the same vein as Kry (as song previously made available on the site and subsequently renamed Cry) with lyrics written from the perspective of God to 50 Cent. Welch says of the song, “Listen people…..play time’s over and it’s time to come home. It’s time to choose sides……..trust me”.
The letter to 50 Cent was also available initially but, as of this morning, it has been removed and replaced with an apology, saying that it was wrong to direct all his anger about the effect gangsta rap has on society at just one man.
