Six By Seven Split
Posted by: Andy on Friday, 17th June, 2005Less than two weeks after the release of their recent album, Artists Cannibals Poets Thieves, Six By Seven have announced that they have split. The break up is amicable and a possible return has not been ruled out but for now the members of the band will pursue other projects.
A statement issued on behalf of the band reads, “After 8 years of being in Six.By Seven, Chris, James and Chris have decided to stop touring and effectively end the group for the foreseeable future. We would like to thank our fans for all of their support over the years. The end of Six.By Seven is not a sad one, as we are proud of our achievements and critical success over the release of 5 fine studio albums. It has been a difficult journey of late and we now realise that we have achieved what we set out to do and the three remaining members wish to move on and make music without the legacy of Six.By Seven hanging over them.”
This is bad news for anyone hoping to catch the band at their forthcoming gigs at The Windmill in Brixton and The Elbow Rooms in Islington as, due to the split, these have been cancelled.
The band plan to mark their end with a live album and a compilation of their best tracks, b-side and other rareties, providing former label Mantra give them the go-ahead.
