Norwegian popstress Annie, whose debut album Anniemal won her critical acclaim in unexpected places earlier this year, is not (as she freely admits) a technically very good DJ, her skills lie where it’s really important: she can keep a mix going, following each track with it’s perfect successor.

Annie’s DJ Kicks mix is an incredibly diverse compilation, going from the the cheesiest pop imaginable, like Lady Bug (I Just Wanna Your) by Bumblebee Unlimited, to the coolest electro, like the Alan Brake & Fred Falke remix to Death from Above 1979’s Black History Month as well as two fine contributions from the DJ herself with Wedding and Gimme Your Money.

Certainly, this won’t be to everyone’s taste but if you’re a stern-faced music fan who fancies just one guilty pop pleasure, this mix will serve it’s purpose perfectly.
