Axl Rose Is A Cool Old Man
Posted by: Andy on Friday, 28th October, 2005We’re sure that Axl Rose is dancing around with glee in the knowledge that he is one of the “coolest old people” in the world, according to a poll in Ellegirl magazine.
It may be six years since Guns N’ Roses released and new material (the track Oh My God on the End Of Days soundtrack) but it appears Rose still appears on the radars of teenage girls, having come second in the poll behind grandparents in general.
“The Second Annual International Cool Survey” collated votes from 10,000 girls worldwide and also included categories like “coolest couple”, “coolest guy celeb”, “coolest band”, and “coolest person to be stuck in an elevator with”.
To be named the coolest old individual Axl, who is 43, beat off competition from Madonna (47), Karl Lagerfeld (67), Mick Jagger (62), Clint Eastwood (75), Elvis Costello (51) and Julie Andrews (70).
Social commentators may be telling us that 40 is the new 30 in these modern times but clearly, in the eyes of teenage girls at least, 40 is still old.
Axl has been working on the near mythical new GN’R album The Chinese Democracy for the last decade. One can’t help but think that, had he got on with it a bit faster, he might have made it into one of the more desirable categories.
Indigo Flow’s on-going poll on when this album might see the light of day continues to get interesting results. 85% of voters still think that it will eventually be released, though 9% of those think that it will have to be pried from Axl’s dead hands and 5% think that it’ll be re-recorded by the band’s original line up.
