A-ha - Cosy Prisons
Posted by: Daisy on Tuesday, 11th April, 2006Wahey! It’s ageing popstars A-ha. Cosy Prisons is the follow up single to All I Want from their popular-with-your-mum album Analogue. It’s a definite turn around from the wailing, thrashing, poke you with a big stick monster of a song All I Want. They used that to lure you back…saying ‘Ooh, look at us, we still do pop and it’s better than most of the crap you lot buy these days!’
Don’t take that to mean that Cosy Prisons isn’t quite a good song, though. See, I saw them perform this song on telly the other night. Morten Harket looks a bit like Patrick Swayze these days, and there’s something about that which makes me chuckle, because musically, the song wouldn’t be out of place in the cheesy heart-wrenching bits of Dirty Dancing. (No, definitely not the dancing bits).
In fairness, if you’re going to own this single, you’ve probably bought the album already. If not, you might as well. A-ha are always going to please you I you liked them the first time they were around.
The moral of the story being; Cosy Prisons ain’t half bad. It’s what you’d expect from old people who’ve been around the pop block once before, and they know what they’re doing. It’s not as good as All I Want, but it’s not exactly the same either, so comparing them is just a bit mean.
