Being 747 - Health & Safety
Posted by: Andy on Tuesday, 25th April, 2006Being 747 comprises ex-Landspeed Loungers frontman Dave Cooke (who can often be seen wearing an aeroplane on his head to justify his band’s name) and current Scarmanga Six members Paul and Steven Morricone. Together they make music similar to Belle & Sebastian but with more edge. Okay, my shoes have more edge than Belle & Sebastian but Being 747’s comes from a Fall influence.
I have to admit, I don’t have much time for either Belle & Sebastian or The Fall and so I didn’t find this album very engaging either. It does have its moments though (closing track Ghosts Of Victorian Seances in particular) and fans of the above bands should lap it up.
