Underworld Announce Final Riverrun Release

Underworld complete the Riverrun Project with download 3 I’m a Big Sister, and I’m a Girl, and I’m a Princess, and this is my Horse being available from 5th June at www.underworldlive.com. With 2 film soundtracks, remix packages, writing for the forthcoming studio album, and their cult broadcasts from their studio yet to come, it’s going to be a busy summer for Messers Smith & Hyde.

There are few bands who could do this. In November 2005, Underworld announced the first in a series of download only releases under the Riverrun banner. Lovely Broken Thing was swiftly followed only weeks later with the second in the series Pizza For Eggs. Stylistically two very different pieces, but uncompromisingly Underworld in sound and approach.

Underworld are now ready with the third in the series, titled I’m a Big Sister, and I’m a Girl, and I’m a Princess, and this is my Horse. Out on 5th June, again as a download only package via www.underworldlive.com, I’m a Big Sister…. explores the darker, moodier, more ambient side to Underworld. Constructed from 5 entirely new pieces, the 25 minute mix is bundled with an audio-visual slide show of text and images and CD artwork.

“the Riverrun series has been a huge success for Rick and I. Taking music from the studio and putting it out into the world in a matter of seconds has been something we’ve longed to do. Creatively we get to write and publish new work in ways that suit us, offering a much needed alternative to our traditional album scheduling.” – Karl Hyde

This release will be followed on 10th July with a retrospective look at the first 3 Riverrun releases – dubbed the Misterons Mix – which will be free to download to all who have bought the first 3 Riverrun releases. At 30 minutes, the Misterons Mix will include a digital gallery of photographs and CD artwork.

During the latter part of 2005 and the beginning of 2006, Underworld have collaborated with composer Gabriel Yared on the score for Anthony Minghella’s new film Breaking & Entering. Staring Jude Law, Juliette Binoche, Robin Wright Penn, Martin Freeman and Ray Winstone, the movie is due out in October and will be preceded by a soundtrack album (on V2 Records).

And it doesn’t end there. Underworld continue to broadcast live from their studio – Saturdays broadcast attracting record numbers in a hook up with Dutch station VPRO. They are also back in the studio working on new material [and on Danny Boyle’s new feature Sunshine (also due out in October)]. Expect a number of 12” releases from Underworld through the summer, with remixes from Pete Heller, Pig and Dan, Paul Woolford and Robag Wruhme.
