The Polyphonic Spree Disrobe

The Polyphonic Spree are known as much for their distinctive white robes as they are for their music. Well, no more! Gone are the robes, replaced with new sleek and sexy black uniforms ready for the release of the group’s third album The Fragile Army.

Musical Director and lead singer, Tim DeLaughter said, “The image of the ‘old robe look’ is actually us in the robes…we refer to it as our ‘badge of strength’ …we always liked the fact it was in abstract form. A mass of some type, not particular to robes. The heart is a symbol of care and thoughtfulness. The cross represents first aid…all these as humans, we’re capable of. It’s just a reminder. We are The Fragile Army.”

No, me neither. It’s probably a good thing though. The first taste of The Polyphonic Spree v2.0 will appear on 7th November with the release of their new EP Wait, available only from iTunes, which features two new tracks, plus cover versions of songs by Nirvan, The Psychedelic Furs and Tim DeLaughter’s former band Tripping Daisy. The new songs will also feature on The Fragile Army, which is due for release in 2007.
