Guns N’ Roses To Reunite?

Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steve Adler has revealed in an interview posted on his official MySpace blog that a reunion might be on the cards.

According to Adler, he recently met with Axl Rose and the pair hit is off again. “I talked with [Axl] from 10 or 12 at night to 8 in the morning. We resolved a lot of fucking shit! I said, ‘You know the five of us have to get back together! That’s when it will really fucking take off again! Nothing will be bigger. It would be the biggest reunion ever in history.’”

Axl’s response seems to have been slightly non-committal, but it seems his current band would like to see a reunion: “[Axl] just grinned and giggled a little bit. Everybody in his band came up to me, ‘You’re the greatest fucking drummer! We tell Axl, you gotta get the band back together!’ That’s what they said to HIM! It was wonderful!”

Bearing in mind the length of time it’s taken to release an album featuring only one member of the original GNR line up, we’re a little dubious about a full reunion happening, though it would seem to be closer than you might think.

Original rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin played a number of shows with the latest incarnation of the band last year, most recently in December at a show in Los Angeles and, according to Adler, Stradlin is particularly keen on the reunion.

This leaves lead guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, who are likely to be the hardest nuts to crack. The pair are now members of Velvet Revolver (whose line-up also includes another former GNR drummer, Matt Sorum) and have had a very public feud with Axl Rose for several years (including suing the singer in 2005).

In a VH1 Behind The Music programme on the band, Slash said, “No matter how much money they throw in our faces, there’s no reason for us to get together… unless there’s a mutual respect or understanding… and we’re way far from that.”

But before we can think about any of that, there’s the little matter a certain long-overdue album. The Chinese Democracy is slated for release at the beginning of next month, though having checked out a few shopping sites, it seems that it’s not available for pre-order yet, which makes us think you’ll be waiting a little while longer yet.
