Glastonbury Applies For 4 Year License
Posted by: Andy on Wednesday, 21st February, 2007Glastonbury Festival organizers have applied for a license to run the event for the next four years, up to 2010.
New laws mean that the festival will only be required to apply once for this period. The application asks for an increased capacity of 177,500 people (up 27,500) and, as usual, states that the site will be open for six days, with musical performances for three.
Mendip District Council, who are handling the application, say that they will make a decision on 26th March, allowing them time to gather opinions from relevant local bodies, residents and businesses.
This announcement comes weeks before tickets for this year’s event go on sale. In a bid to stop ticket touts, everyone wishing to buy a ticket must pre-register by 28th February. Tickets purchased when they go on sale on 1st April will be printed with a picture of the buyer.
Acts so far confirmed for Glastonbury 2007 include The Who, Björk and The Artic Monkeys.
