The Maccabees - About Your Dress
Posted by: Daisy on Tuesday, 27th February, 2007About Your Dress is a sweet jumpy sort of song which has all of the qualities of those not-quite-punk-not-quite-folk-not-quite-indie bands that are floating around all over the place. There’s a catchy little guitar hook in there but I can’t get over the vocals which are those kind of half arsed “I’m quite fond of those Pete Doherty noises that people are making at the moment”.
It’s not a bad song, but I just can’t really get excited about it because it could easily be mistaken for any other band of their ilk at the moment – punchy guitars and 60’s inspired jumpy beats and a faint dusting of Maxïmo Park-eque irritatingness.
People are probably salivating all over them and boys in skinny jeans with red braces are bopping around their bedroom to them, but they just don’t float my boat.
