The White Stripes Announce New Album
Posted by: Andy on Thursday, 1st March, 2007The White Stripes have announced details of their sixth studio album, which is to be called Icky Thump.
The duo spent three weeks at Blackbird Studio in Nashville - the longest amount of time they have ever spent recording an album. This is not the only milestone, however. Icky Thump (apparently spelt wrong “to avoid a possible lawsuit from the estate of Billy Eckstine”, pedants) is the first White Stripes LP to feature a title track.
Other songs titles on the album include Catch Hell Blues, Little Cream Soda, Rag And Bone and You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You’re Told).
Via their website, Jack and Meg White told fans that they hope to release the album, their first under a new deal with Warner Bros, “as soon as corporately possible”. Until then, a short video of them working on a song entitled Slowly I’m Turning Into You - albeit with the actual music replaced by various synth sounds.
They also hinted that they are preparing for a world tour, which presumably will kick off later this year.
