Biffy Clyro - Saturday Superhouse

Saturday Superhouse is bursting with noisy guitar rock of their typical ilk. I have to admit that my knowledge of Biffy Clyro is slim to none, other than the fact that they make rawk music for the kids, and sound like a combination of RATM, Nirvana, At The Drive In, Funeral For A Friend…I could go on, but I’m sure you get the drift.

I know that lot of those metaler/emo types or whatever they are these days wet themselves over them but those strained sounding vocals and stabby guitars just scream 14 year old skater boy music to me.

My personal taste has bugger all to do with it though. Objectively speaking, Saturday Superhouse is a good track with a melange of what can only be described as catchy hooks and a sound that’s so tight it’s hard to find too much fault with it.

They do neatly slip into a certain genre, but what that’s called I don’t know any more because these days everything is so many different things that I can’t keep up. Why can’t we just stick to rock and pop and have done with it?

These guys are rock, in that case then. They’re hailed as rock gods among many industry/music types and although I wouldn’t go that far they do seem to manage to stand out from the crowd with ‘angular’ guitars and a great rhythm that keeps it nice and schmooooove, and I’m sure this song will keep these boys clothed for a while longer. They’ve not got to the acid-jazz-funk-hip-hop-glam concept album just yet.

If you like ‘the Biff’ I can’t see why you’ll treat this song with anything but the utmost respect you do the others. Buy it, learn the words, jump around your room to it, put it as your profile song on MySpace…it’s what we do, isn’t it kids?
