Jarvis Cocker To Curate Meltdown
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 5th March, 2007Former Pulp frontman, now a solo artist, Jarvis Cocker has been announced as this year’s curator for London’s Meltdown festival, to take place at the South Bank Centre in June. Though no details have yet been announced, the singer hinted that his would be an eclectic mix.
“I think the main thing is to mix things up; things that maybe shouldn’t go together,” said Cocker upon the announcement. “I’m hoping to get a weird mix of contemporary things and revivals of old stuff; and as much as possible that involves audience participation to a degree. I’m hoping to get some film stuff together. There will high culture there, and low culture; some very low.”
Previous Meltdown curators include Elvis Costello, John Peel, Laurie Anderson, David Bowie and Morrissey.
