The Darkness To Relaunch Soon

After the departure of frontman Justin Hawkins last year, The Darkness announced that they would continue, with bassist Richie Edwards taking on singing duties (meaning he has now replaced two members of the original band, as we first joined after bassist Frankie Poulain jumped ship).

A new picture of the band posted on The Darkness’ website seems to have sparked confusion over whether or not they will continue under a new name or not. Well not any more! Edwards has posted a messages to fans clearing everything up. Here it is:

I can absolutely confirm here and now that we will NOT be carrying on under the name ‘The Darkness’. We are literally days away from announcing our new name, when this is done we will be launching our new website and we sincerely hope that you guys will be paying it a visit!

We just thought that, after the press had picked up on our Myspace pages, we had to add some stuff to our “old” webpage, so that you fans out there knew that we are alive and kicking.

New pictures will be posted once our recordings allow us to focus on photoshoots, etc.

Since the news about Justin’s exit first came out we have been genuinely touched by the support we have received from you all and knowing that you lot are there for us has spurred us on more than you can imagine. We will be announcing our new name and launching our new website soon and we hope that you will be there with us when we do. I wrote in one of my Myspace blogs that a band is only as good as its fans, well with you lot on board we can’t go wrong.

I can’t wait for this album to be finished and for you all to hear it, it’ll knock your fuckin’ socks off!

Love to you all

Richie xx
