Loney, Dear - I Am John

Lonely, Dear make painfully adorable Swedish indie-folk. The Swedish part is important because if you’re aware of the similarly adorable music that is emerging from that country, such as I’m From Barcelona, you’ll see that something good is going on, and Scandinavia in general has a lot to offer us. We need more of this stuff. I Am John meanders through your ears and tickles at you in a way that makes it impossible not to love. It’s so delicate and gentle and it’s already got me hooked.

I Am John combines a certain sense of Fleetwood Mac and their contemporary twins Midlake, as well as some soft folky vocals and this song is just too lovely for words. I know words like ‘nice’ and ‘lovely’ are a bit pathetic, but sometimes they just fit – because the mild and calm heart of this song makes you feel just that. I want to float about in the sun giving flowers to old ladies and go for picnics in the park. There’s something so painfully tender about I Am John and it’s a treat to hear.

Ditch the ‘new rave’ lifestyle and turn into a hippy. It’s just in time for the festival season, so you’ll fit in perfectly!
