The Lodger - Kicking Sand

Posted by: Daisy on Friday, 6th April, 2007

When I have a big pile of stuff to review I will often try to leave something good for the end so that I don’t feel like hanging myself by the time I’ve finished. And I chose this, Kicking Sand, by The Lodger because as of yet they have failed to disappoint me.

Once again, they have reeled me in with the first few bars. I can’t quite remember when I first heard this lot, but it’s long enough to have seen an evolution from sugar sweet indie musings to painfully intelligent and infectious songs.

A combination of edgy guitars and the wonderfully light voice of singer Ben, fused together by perky percussion put Kicking Sand head and shoulders above most indie-pop floating around at the moment.

The track is available as a download only, so you don’t even have to leave your home to get it. I thoroughly recommend you plonk yourself in front of your computer on Monday and get it…Last one there has a mouldy face!
