Ooh, it’s like a gothic Talking Heads! Kind of, there’s a David Byrne influence in those vocals, I’m sure. Shining Bright Star is has ravaging electro backbeat and it sort of twists and grinds and I’m finding it quite difficult not to like it. You get hit with a wall of gnarling, meaty bass, and twangy synths aplenty and this grows into a rather spiffing little track. Think Röyksopp + The Faint + !!! and you’re getting there. I can’t help but steal a line form the little sticker which tells me about Shining Bright Star, because it’s just so fitting – “Black Strobe have created what can only be described as an acid house, disco-punk anthem”. Given half a chance, this could do well.
