I never know quite what to expect from Envelopes, because quite frankly, they are rather wonky and random. However, with its ridiculously long title Smoke In The Desert, Eating The Sand, Hide In The Grass, this is nowhere near what I was imagining to come out of my speakers. It’s like a proper song. Envelopes have gone all serious yet are still fairly weird. I can only really describe it as a cross between the Pixies and Architecture in Helsinki, with Frank Black-esque vocals, punchy guitars and a good helping of quirky originality. It’s just brilliant.
