East London Venue Faces Closure
Posted by: Andy on Friday, 20th April, 2007East London venue The Spitz has been given six months notice y its landlords to vacate its current premises, which mean, at worst, it may cease to exist in September this year.
The Spitz is situated in Spitalfields Market and over twelve years has become internationally recognised reputation as London’s leading independent non-mainstream music venue and a gallery that specialises in socially aware photo journalism.
Fans of the venue, including singer Beth Orton and Mayor of London Ken Livingstone have, voiced dismay at this decision, which comes as the venue prepares for its sold out Spitz Festival Of Blues and an online petition has been launched.
