Jon Redfern - May Be Some Time

Posted by: Andy on Monday, 23rd April, 2007

Jon Redfern’s debut solo album nods back to the 70’s folk scene and the likes of John Martyn and Nick Drake. His songs are gentle, lilting numbers featuring a variety of different time signatures and an even greater variety of accompanying instruments.

I could go on talking about the technical aspects of this album (because it is technically very impressive) but that is not what this album is about. This album is about feeling. It’s about sitting outside. It’s about finding a note that will make your heart stop beating. It’s an album that begins nicely (in a “I’ll never listen to this again” kind of way) and gradually scrambles in under your skin, until you can feel it moving around in your blood.

Originally recorded in January 2006 without any label backing, this release on Reveal Records (home of Joan As Police Woman) features five new bonus tracks.
