Paul Hartnoll has not been lazy since the break up of Orbital in 2004. Instead, he barricaded himself into his Brighton studio and began work on his debut solo album, which finally sees the light of day this May.

Despite Robert Smith’s vocal, it’s difficult to disguise the fact that Please is actually a pretty run-of-the-mill dance track, little more than a collection of synth lines gently laid over an unassuming drum loop. This is nothing, however, compared to the exercise in dullness that is the B-side, Old School Tie.

This is dance music for people who like sitting down.
