Shiny Toy Guns are about to burst forth as the next big American export. There seems to be little doubt about that, so let’s not even start. They were first presented to me a little while ago as an industrial band, which they clearly aren’t. Their music has that sickening sheen particular to mainstream American rock bands but the crash of guitars takes a back seat to driving synths.

If it weren’t for their electronic leanings, You Are The One might easily pass by unnoticed, but those synths do, if nothing else, make you stop and listen. It’s also worth a look for Carah Faye’s voice, which is occasionally inserted between Chad Petree’s unremarkable warbling and brings and improves the song no end.

B-sides Weather Girl and I Promise You Walls disprove that (as has been suggested by some people) if they dropped the guitars they’d be a pretty good synth act.
