Strummerville, the charitable trust set up by the friends and family of Joe Strummer to support emerging artists has just launched a brand new website – www.strummerville.com

The charity seeks to reflect Joe’s unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them.

The website brings a new dimension to the ethos of Strummerville by offering a central point for emerging artists to showcase their music to the public. The site launches showcasing the talents of 60 bands with more being added all the time. Visitors will be able to download a free track from each of the bands and post responses and comments on their profile pages. Bands from the site may also be offered the chance to participate in Strummerville DIY showcase nights.

This year will see the Strummerville campfire returning to the Lost Vagueness field at Glastonbury, with a larger site and a new stage open to anyone who wants to perform.

Strummerville’s long term objective is to open a series of rehearsal and recording studios. Last year saw the opening of the first of these spaces at the newly refurbished Roundhouse in London (website). A suitable location for the next has been found in Bridgwater, Somerset and all fundraising efforts are being channeled into this project.
