Venuny - V2
Posted by: Andy on Tuesday, 24th April, 2007Slovenian electronic trio Venuny formed originally to compose a new soundtrack for Phillipe Garell’s 1968 cult silent film Le Revelator and quickly realised they’d hit on something worth continuing.
Now in demand for film and TV work, they are set to release their second stand-alone album together - their first to receive a UK release.
As you might expect, their sound does have a cinematic edge to it. Listening to these songs, I often begin to imagine films that don’t exist. It’s not always a pleasant film but the soundtrack is excellent - dark, threatening electronic music, lead by gloomy guitars. Lyrics are often one or two repeated lines, which add further to the foreboding atmosphere of the songs.
This is music for late nights, deep thoughts and sloooooooow dancing.
