Aereogramme To Split This Year
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 14th May, 2007Glaswegian band Aereogramme have announced that they will split after their current bout of touring. In a message posted on their official MySpace they cite “the never ending financial struggle coupled with an almost superhuman ability to dodge the zeitgeist”.
In February, the band released their fourth (and now final) album, My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go through the Chemikal Underground label. The album received a mixed reception, some loving the more restrained style it adopted, others morning the loss of the band’s doom metal influences.
In the statement, Aereogramme told fans, “We just don’t have any fight left in us”. Though they add, “We are immensely proud of the four albums that we made over the past seven years. We want to thank you all for listening to our music and coming to our shows over the years. You have given us a glimpse of something truly special.”
The band’s final set of shows begin at the end of this month with three shows supporting Biffy Clyro. On the 16th June, the band play their official farewell show at QMU in Glasgow, before rounding things off with festival slots in Germany and Scotland.
