Sway - One For The Journey EP

Posted by: Andy on Monday, 14th May, 2007

As a stopgap between albums one and two, Sway offers this EP up to his growing legion of fans worldwide. Some of those fans appear on the EP, namely Chamillionaire, Chiefer, Mr. Hudson (without the Library) and Stanton Warriors.

Expectations are high but One For The Journey fails to ignite. The beats are uninspiring and the lyrics tread tired waters, though Sway’s individual twists do keep things a little interesting. Though there’s an American slant to the production, he does try to keep things UK-centric.

The EP kicks off with True Stories, a description of the UK as Sway sees it, which bears several similarities to Scor-zay-zee’s much better Great Britain. The guests along the way add little to boost the tracks and this only really get interesting when Sway guest on a Stanton Warriors track right at the end.

Heed the subtitle, “This is not my second album!” and just wait.
