The Maccabees - Colour It In
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 14th May, 2007After a succession of popular singles, including a limited release through Next Big Thing-makers Fierce Panda, The Maccabees release their hotly anticipated debut album, Colour It In.
Made up of thirteen infectious songs, it’s hard not to get swept up in the unchecked joy with which the band perform. Stepping away from traditional indie subject matter, The Maccabees write about more important things, like swimming pools and playing with Lego. The lyrics also stand out for being very well-written, engaging and able to paint bright, distinct pictures.
Finally, here comes a mainstream UK indie band not trying to live off a handful of mindless anthems, instead opting for high quality throughout their repertoire. Whatever next?
