Life Without Buildings - Live At The Annandale Hotel

Posted by: Andy on Tuesday, 19th June, 2007

In the three years they were together, Life Without Buildings released a handful of single and an album that were all critically lauded. Though they eventually drifted by without being noticed by the world at large, they did manage to prove highly influential to many of today’s top bands; most notably Bloc Party.

This live show, recorded in Sydney in December 2002 and, though this was not long before they split, it captures the band on fine form. Sue Tompkins’ half sung/half spoken vocals and giddily excited between song chat makes for an engaging show, even in this non-visual form.

Live At The Annandale Hotel is a great record of a band whose place in pop history should not be ignored and will prove irresistible to die-hard fans and newcomers alike.
