It has been almost two years since Aniff Akinola released his first single as Ironweed, Down To My Grave. A fresh take on country music, it remains a firm favourite of mine. Now he’s back with a new single and an album on the way.

It should be said, Get On The Floor does not have the same impact as Down To My Grave. It drifts to close to novelty and there’s an overriding feeling that Alabama 3 already covered this ground. However, skip to the next track and you find something truly brilliant.

All By Myself mixes country and drum n bass in a way that is neither novelty or a disaster. 180BPM drums and dusty slide guitar race beneath Kyla Brox’s gorgeous, soulful vocal and will make you think about music differently.
