The Bravery - Time Won’t Let Me Go

When The Bravery appeared, all leather and sculptured hair, with their 2005 eponymous debut album, there were many detractors who said they were merely jumping on a bandwagon. Criticism went so deep as to even suggest that The Bravery (or at least frontman Sam Endicott) had no real interest in music at all. Well not so, say The Bravery, and they are here to prove it by, er, completely changing their sound.

Yes, gone is any trace of an 80s pop influence and replaced with 90s indie. Time Won’t Let Me Go even edges a little too close to ballad territory. A smattering of keyboards remain (well, the keyboard player has to do something), but the jarring change in style makes listening to The Bravery now a slightly perplexing experience. This will no doubt subside, at which point we’ll really start to notice how dreary the new songs are.
