BBC To Close Maida Vale Studios

Posted by: Andy on Tuesday, 3rd July, 2007

The BBC has announced it is to close its legendary Maida Vale studios next year, as it is too outdated compared to modern standards.

The studios have been used for numerous music and drama recordings over the years but is most famous for being where the majority of Radio 1’s John Peel Sessions were recorded. Amongst the many bands who recorded sessions for John Peel were Black Sabbath, Nirvana, The Specials and Peel’s favourite band The Fall, who recorded 24 sessions in total.

As yet the BBC have not confirmed if they will replace the studios or not.
