The Go! Team - Grip Like A Vice
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 9th July, 2007Grip Like A Vice is the first single released from The Go! Team’s second album, which is due for release on the 10th September. The song is undeniably Go! Team - all old school rapping and simple melodies that attach themselves to your ears forever. On first listen, it’s maybe a little too Go! Team. The fact that it’s not that far removed from the first album, Thunder Lightning Strike, is a bit disappointing, but it’s hard to feel like this for long as the song gets under your skin and gets your limbs twitching.
There are subtle differences to earlier material. The main thing you’ll notice is that this song is far less cluttered. There’s still plenty going on but Ian Parton’s tendency to pile samples upon samples has been reigned in somewhat, giving everything more space to breath. And did I mention how bloody catchy it is?
