Mexican Institute Of Sound - Piñata

Posted by: Andy on Thursday, 2nd August, 2007

Albums this good shouldn’t be allowed, it’s just not fair to everyone else. The follow-up to the acclaimed debut album Mejico, Maxico, The Mexican Insitute Of Sound AKA Camilo Lara AKA Instituto Mexicano Del Sonido’s latest work is forty five minutes of pure joy.

Holed away in his Mexico City studio, Lara takes a hip hop base and gradually adds to it anything he deems appropriate. The result is distinctly South American but definite influences from the States, UK and Europe, too.

If you’ve ever tapped your foot to Kid Koala, MC Solaar, De La Soul, Daedelus or Bentley Rhythm Ace then this will send you into convulsions of happiness. Simply one of the smartest and most innovative hip hop albums ever.
