Shiny Toy Guns - Rainy Monday
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 20th August, 2007I must admit, I quite like Shiny Toy Guns. Rainy Monday was the first track by them that a friend thrust upon me and told me I should love…and I didn’t have to try very hard.
Elements of Euro-pop crossed with synthy soundscapes come together to create songs that seem to incorporate so many genres, but still burst from a rock soul, to become what my aforementioned friend calls ‘emotronica’. Whatever you want to call it, Rainy Monday is a ridiculously upbeat song for its almost melancholic subject. Bursting open with a placid guitar riff, then roaring into a near orchestra of rock, by the time you hit the chorus it roars from every angle and begs to be played at full volume.
Despite their emo leanings (dirty dirty), I like Shiny Toy Guns. Their album We Are Pilots oozes some awesome tracks, which I do have a habit of listening to quite a lot.
