Soho Dolls - Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation
Posted by: Andy on Monday, 3rd September, 2007After several years and one almost complete personnel change (Maya von Doll being the only surviving original member), the Soho Dolls’ long anticipated debut album, Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation, is finally here. Despite this album’s title and Maya von Doll’s claims that she wants “people to tap into their primal sense again,” what the band actually have to offer is clinical electro-rock.
Far from being music designed to be thought-provoking, it’s seems more a case of songs to switch off to. It’s music for late nights and lots of dancing. Though there are several very good tracks on here (Stripper, My Vampire, Right And Right Again and No Regrets), as an album to just sit down and listen to, it’s a bit unsatisfying. It’s just a little bit cold and aloof to really connect on an emotional level.
